Esther Arunga in with the crazies?

It's been a rather interesting week for Kenyan news followers...and I use the term news in the loosest manner ever! Esther Arunga, a former KTN News anchor and Joseph Hellon, a jazz maestro/founder of the Finger of God church have managed to raise a riot with their unmuted candor on what they believe to be wrong with the Kenyan society in terms of our political, economic and social standing. After following a story that seemed to stem from irrelevant issues...issues pertaining to where Esther Arunga lived, where she worshiped and who she was dating and not dating...I came out blazing and raging about our media once again giving lee way for irrelevancy to rule our front page news but I must say, this story gets crazier by the minute. In a lengthy interview with Tv personality Jeff Koinange of K24 (links to the interview will be posted at the end of the post), Esther talks about Kenya being under the spell of free masonry...she talks about alleged attempts on her life due to her beliefs and evidence she has on Kenyan leaders being of the Free Mason faith, she goes on to mention names of women that allegedly maneuvered their way into her and Hellon's lives only to try and sabotage them and then, like this could not get any crazier... she talks about her vie for Vice Presidency of our republic come 2012, with Hellon running for presidency.
It all goes from 0 to 360 degrees in a flash! Is she slowly deeping into the loony bin? This remains the question of the hour. As I watch her, I keep looking for signs of insanity, of brainwash, of hypnosis of some type...but she comes off, surprisingly so as a sober, well spoken, very articulate and very determined young woman. In her interview, she manages to say things that surprisingly have me, the hugest skeptic, agreeing with her. She urges Kenyans to give the young people a chance to lead our country out of the gutter, she throws out characteristics of good leadership which I agree with and she even encourages young girls that look up to her to never let anyone tell them that anything is impossible...and I find myself torn! Do I believe the crazy she is spewing about conspiracy?
Now let me make myself clear here. I care not for all the absurdities that she encounters in her personal life..I don't care who she's dating, where she is living or what she is eating! To me, those types of queries into her life belong in the likes of Pulse magazine, which is now being published in languages way more complex than ebonics...I guess good old proper English or Swahili is not a fad anymore! (but those are woes for another day)! What concerns me is that these two characters are launching a campaign for the 2012 presidential election, and albeit the fact that it is possible that only members of the Finger of God may vote for them, those are about 300 votes we are talking about! 2012 is just as crucial as any other election year and my concern lies on wasted votes! So my question remains...are these two in with the crazies or are they worth the vote?

Just read your blog..and have watched all..I repeat (ALL) related videos.before I comment I must say .Now my post is strictly putting myself in a critics/scholar/position. The part of me that that remembers the days I knew her in high school and even a little after that is still waiting to be told that we are being PUNKED or that APRIL fools has come early coz I remember a very pleasant, happy spirited person sad to say...this is very very sad.

Now I know your blog focussed solely on her political bid etc but her reactions to this circus and her relationships do bear upon her political ambitions(you seem to think otherwise). how you related to these things directly translate to how you will govern...one word OBAMA..and I know you love him so you get my point..

I see very many flaws in her arguments. She may be articulate in how she is talking but the content leaves me befuddled???

1)She seems to know more about free-masonry than she does about FOG and its links to Benny Hinn ( note she defers all this to Hellon (k24 interview) who sadly we may not hear from since they are now in imprisoned. Why would an intelligent articulate.. person follow a faith blindly if you are really seeking what is REAL???

2) When the reports first came out she said that she broke up with her fiancee because he was picking up girls at church...now the storo on K24 turned to picking up girls at Florida????

3) if she suspected her fianceee of all this why didnt she go to the police earlier. Coz technically one could argue that she was involved...

4) Technically if this storo hadn't blown up she would never have told us about free-masonry etc etc and walabas hedious activities??? sooo then why now??..seems strange..

5) VP bid 2012 is clearly not well thought of since she is not 35 or will be 35 then..has not spoken of where she will run for MP( since technically you need to be one)..and now may not be eligible if she is convicted of her crime

Lol!! I totally agree with you Nuff. This chic is gone to the deep end. I think Christianity is totally misused often. When the white man wanted to colonize Africa, they used Christianity as a means to reach their objective. Ms. thing may be well polished and seem to have it all together but she is brain washed ( sorry to say. Recall the story about maji maji rebellion? This is blind faith and unfortunately people are join cults in the name of the lord!!! Now she is telling of many things the jamaa was doing yet she was not scared ( or did she say so in the interview?).

Watched the interview and can't seem to get her angle!! What does she stand to gain with all this attention? What is her clande.....Oppps sorry meant her spiritual counselor up to? Is this another way of distracting Kenyans from the real issue of Kibaki and Raila not being on the same page? Just asking....

Thanks for your comments! MM you raise some very valid points about the correlation between her personal life and her public figure! Everything seems so helter skelter with her, she sounds like a young sarah palin that's been trained to say stuff she doesn't quite understand, and when something left field is thrown her way, she quickly deflects by directing Koinange to Hellon. Sigh! I think some of the questions Jeff Koinange would have asked have been raised by MM. How exactly is she running before 35? And why is she running before she can crawl? Does she not have to be MP first? I'm thinking this young girl needs to read the constitution and electoral regulations, no?
Thanks so much for your comments. Keep them Coming!!!!!!! :-)

OMG, first of all Gigi let me congratulate you on the this specific blog, very catchy given all the media it has garnered. Watching those videos was nauseating, it took all my energy to watch it. I will not start to make sense of it because its all lunatic....someone call for a psych consult please....church and state should be 2 different entities and yee me of little faith because Esther Arunga bears no comparison to Esther in the bible. What are we going to do with the Muslims? As a previous blogger noted, how come she knows so much of free masonry and not enough about the church that she so diligently seeks to understand.

She talks about running for Vice president and making history. Someone please make me comprehend this. Has the constitution changed. To be psycho you don't need to be hallucinating! Psych consult again please....who is on call at Mathare hospital? We are doing this gal a de-service if we don't call for it! I am 100% scared for our country if these are the people who are going to be running for presidency....why do I keep thinking this a masonry scheme gone bad at best? Like I said before, I will not even try to make sense of this! This is total madness.

Nice job though!

Please don't fail to mention the gossip blogs when you mention media, they are even more vicious.

Lol... So is this interview about free mason ama about launching her political career or the finger of God? I dont get the purpose of this 1 hr! Its just hot storo for gossip. Yani if she got killed, the person would be president.. who does she think she is? Ok am exhausted

Honestly I didn't get it either...so she's got all this dirt on people...how will that make her and her buddy good leaders. We have all known about free masonary for a long time and if I recall correctly we went through some of the crazy things she was talking about in late 80's early 90's....
I don't see her deal with the issues that a VP hopeful should be talking about..to me there's no campaign there except the religious campaign. I don't think that's what Kenya wants to see in 2012. On the other hand, I must commend her on being very articulate..if she directed her energies at the right stuff, she would be more convincing.

Thanx for this piece. I Like your approach of it. For me I chose to look at it from a spiritual angle. This is not just a confusing but a vicious form of wave upon Christianity. we need to look at the bigger picture here. Its not really about Esther nor about Hellon or the presidential bids that are in question, rather the solid nature of Christianity.
All other forms of religion that sprouted have a characteristic that we as Christians lack; and thats being SOLID. They stick by each other. you will note that Muslims stick to their brothers even when they have been accused of being murderers and terrorists. Case in point the recent riots that now have Islamic-residents being arrested night in night out here in Kenya.
Ladies and Gents, this is a war being raged amongst us, to confuse and close our eyes. We shall be busy commenting, discussing and critiquing the two individuals together with their ministry, but what happened to praying for one, standing by them and noticing that just like them we have mistakes, mud-patches that tell all we have been in the dirt. What happened to WWJD???
Thanx Geegee and all for this post, its really eye-opening!!

Nice one..as I watched the K24 interview I was also looking for signs of drug abuse and insanity which I failed to find. I only saw a misguided personality finding the wrong answers in the wrong places with odd people.
The most disgusting thing was that this was the way that crew decided to tell Kenyans that more than 60% of voters need to follow 'em..c'mon now we need a better catalyst for that discussion...so lets give time on that one though personally I wouldn't place my shillings on this bid. I have nothing against Esther and Maestro (no pun) but I think someone in their church is running some serious mind games and it doesn't help with all the finger pointing (pun).
i even thought i saw Jeff Koinange laughing at missus right there... Politics has had worse scandals than this (refer Ouko murder et al. )so I hope they shove this story in the back page of those 20 bob magazines that I only see popping up election year.

Since when do you run for vice presidency? It's the presidential candidate who selects a running mate. Hello?

"I want Kenyans to open their eyes... go to google and find out about ali bongo..." but she doesn't want to read what's on the Internet to find out about her boyfriend Quincy Timberlake...
puh-leese!

As we keep discussing our opinions on the whole Arunga saga, it is apparent that we all have different takes on it. Whether we think she and her cronies are after their 15 really long minutes of fame, or whether this is all based on some religious ploy or political agenda, one thing remains certain! Something just doesn't add up. Question is, is it worth exploring? Or are we satisfied with dubbing them crazy and moving on to more riveting things? Frankly, I'm tired of it all. If at all it's a conspiracy, then its not fascinating enough to keep people wondering. If at all it's religious based..I'm not down with the kind of Christianity she professes to possess and I certainly I'm okay basking in my ignorance about Free Masonry. If at all its political...well...it's not even worth commenting about.

Gigee! Have you watched Kionage's interview of Hellon??? You need to watch it and blog about it ASAP! To say the least, I was bewildered. He claims that God told him he would be pres in 2012.

It would be interesting if you did a piece on Kenya & Christianity Along with the Arunga/Hellon madness, there was a church in Nakuru trying to resurrect two of it's leaders through feverish prayer.
